Charter Day is a celebration of our past and a renewal of our commitment to the people of Nebraska to continue serving, inspiring and strengthening our state.
As I begin my tenure as interim chancellor, Charter Day feels especially meaningful this year. That is why I would like to invite you to a special Charter Day Celebration on Friday, February 13 to inspire a shared sense of purpose and optimism for UNL’s future.
What: Charter Day 2026 Celebration
When: Friday, February 13, 2 p.m., Reception to follow at 3 p.m.
Where: Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center, 2021 Transformation Drive. A livestream also will be available.
Parking: Free event parking will be available in the paved lot north of Transformation Drive. On-street parking at parking meters will continue to be enforced by the City of Lincoln Parking Services Division until 6 p.m.
Across the university, we must remain intentional about our “why” — the purpose that guides our academic programs, research and creative activities, extension efforts, and student life. Each of you plays a role in creating the vibrant intellectual community that extends across Nebraska and beyond. Our strength comes from our roots in our state, but it also comes from you. It’s our People. It’s our Place. It’s our Time.
At this celebration, I have invited our deans and other university leaders to share their “why” and how their college’s and unit’s efforts are driving our university forward to empower generations to lead boldly, courageously, and with purpose greater than ourselves.
Our work doesn’t happen in isolation. We grow because we learn from and engage with one another, as well as the communities and industries across the state.
Please join me on February 13 as we celebrate our history on Charter Day and take steps together toward a bold and exciting future for our university.
Sincerely,
Katherine S. Ankerson
Interim Chancellor
