With gratitude on Employee Appreciation Day

Dear Colleagues,

On this Employee Appreciation Day, I want to pause and say a simple and deeply sincere thank you. You are the heart of our university, and each of you has a part to play to inspire and equip our students to change the world.

I know the past few years have had their challenges. Like so many other institutions across the country, we have navigated uncertainty and change. And yet, every day, you continue to show up for our students and for one another. Your work helps to shape a future of limitless promise and lasting impact.

The effects of your work resonate across our university and beyond. Because of you, students are empowered, research advances, operations run smoothly, learning thrives, and our community remains strong. The work in our classrooms and labs, offices and residence halls, clinics and facilities, and countless other spaces matters deeply and is the foundation of our students’ success.

Today, I want to recognize all members of our campus community:

  • Our staff, whose dedication, expertise and care keep this institution moving forward
  • Our faculty, whose teaching, scholarship and mentorship shape lives every day
  • Our graduate assistants and postdocs, who balance learning, teaching, research and service with remarkable commitment
  • Our student employees, whose contributions are essential to campus life and who represent the future of our workforce and our communities

Each role is different. Each contribution matters. Together, we form a community grounded in integrity, compassion and a commitment to do the next right thing.

I am grateful not only for what you do, but for how you do it — with professionalism, creativity, innovation, empathy and resilience.

Thank you for everything you contribute to this university and to one another. I hope you take a moment today to reflect on the impact of your work — and to feel my appreciation.
