End-of-Semester Message from the Chancellor

May 13, 2025

Dear UNL community,

We often say that “There is no place like Nebraska,” and that is true because of you. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is a place where students can enroll and take advantage of the opportunities of an R1, Big Ten comprehensive research university, and do so while developing personal and professional relationships that last a lifetime.

This has been an outstanding year for our university, despite the many pressures we are all feeling. Our enrollment has increased, as has student retention, research funding and expenditures, private giving, academic rankings, faculty recognition, and more. I am grateful for the perseverance and commitment of our faculty and staff to student success; we were able to succeed despite significant challenges.

As we move forward this summer and fall, new opportunities and new challenges will emerge. Those challenges — new and old — will only be overcome with purposeful action guided by thoughtful strategy.

I send my best wishes for a productive close to the spring semester and ask that you join me in shaping our bright future.

Thank you.

Rodney D. Bennett
